The four-level transit hub structure, which will serve as a parking garage and bus facility at the new G Line commuter rail station, is being constructed as part of an RTD Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) pilot program for the area. Located in the heart of historic Olde Town Arvada, the transit hub will include more than 600 parking spaces, a 36,000 square foot festival deck, 7 bus transfer areas, a Kiss-n-ride, electric vehicle charging stations and bike racks. Upon completion, it will serve RTD commuters as well as Olde Town visitors and will take the place of the existing Olde Town Arvada Park-n-Ride.
RK Steel prefabricated three stair towers which were then bolted into place on-site after installation. The team installed the steel support columns and rails for each and are now adding the steel railings. RK Steel also installed 80,000 lineal feet of barrier cable for this project. The steel cable was installed in the concrete partial walls to prevent cars and people from falling over the edge of the parking garage.
