Aurora Hyperscale Data Center Campus
Project overview
RK delivered the mechanical, electrical and modular scope for a 1.2 million square foot hyperscale data center campus on a fast-track Design/Build schedule. Three RK companies worked as one integrated team across preconstruction, fabrication and field installation, with the central plant, critical power and repeatable data hall modules engineered together from day one.
Our scope of work covered the central cooling plant and chilled water distribution, medium voltage power and critical electrical systems and factory-built data center and power modules manufactured off site and set ready to connect.

RK Service technicians winterize a residential mechanical room.
Project challenges
The schedule peaked with multiple buildings under construction at once, on a site with constrained laydown and a compressed procurement window. Modularizing the data halls and power equipment moved critical work into the shop, kept trades out of each other’s way in the field and protected the milestone dates through every phase.
End result
The campus came online ahead of the original milestone and was recognized with a regional Design/Build award. The integrated delivery model led directly to two follow-on phases with the same client.
