September 12, 2016 – RK was featured in the 9 News story covering suicide prevention in the construction industry that aired in early September. The story included footage captured by 9 News anchorwoman Kyle Dyer and her cameraman Adam Vance who were on site at the Gaylord Rockies job site on August 12 to film a toolbox talk about the importance of mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

Tom Alvarez, RK Corporate Safety Manager, gave the talk and expressed to RK employees that it’s OK to open up about one’s troubles and ask RK colleagues for help. After Tom finished, Aldo Mendoza, RK Safety Superintendent, repeated the toolbox talk in Spanish for Spanish-speaking workers. 9 News also interviewed Jon Kinning and Michelle Brown, RK General Superintendent.

This on-air opportunity came about as a result of RK’s involvement with Sally Spencer-Thomas and the Carson J Spencer Foundation. RK is proud to help lead the conversation about suicide awareness in the construction industry.
